OUR STORY

The Media Image was founded in Feb 2008 by Grant Macfarlane who was Google UK’s first AdWords hire back in 2002, when the platform changed from an impression-based search buy to a pay-per-click model.

In our early years, we concentrated exclusively on paid search and quickly built up a large client base of blue chip clients, both in SA and in the UK. We have expanded our service offering further to include a SEO division. The Media Image now proudly offers Paid Search, SEO, Display, Content, Design and Social Media disciplines, with a staff contingent all highly trained in the latest techniques & developments.

TMI ranks #8 in the UK TechTrack100

TMI ranked at #8 and came alongside highly established tech media giants like Sky Scanner and Huddle, to name just a few. With an enviable list of clients including the likes of Coral, we’ve managed to secure an aggregate 171% sales growth over the last three years.

To Top of 2015 TMI wins Best Small PPC agency at the UK prestigious UK Search awards. This is recognition of an outstanding small PPC agency with up to 25 staff that demonstrates consistently great understanding and use of PPC.

2014

TMI adopts Google’s Doubleclick Stack!

With a growing service offering, we needed a world-class tool to tie it all together! With Doubleclick for Search, Doubleclick Bid Manager, Studio & Doubleclick Campaign Manager offering complete campaign workflow across channels we can track, strengthen and optimize even the most complex online campaigns using our digital ad management platform.

The world needs another digital agency…

TMI was founded in Durban, South Africa with 2 employees and soon after landed its first big client win! We rapidly added Private Property, Safarinow & Nedbank to our growing client base – all of which remain happy clients to this day..

2009

One year on

Peter Brooke-Sumner leaves Google and joins TMI and the fledgling agency moves office to Cape Town. We quadruple our size and now count 8 eager employees!

2010

We’re going International!

TMI UK opens – not letting the weather get the better of us, we land our first UK client and start helping larger UK agencies manage their outsourcing requirements.

Moving offices…

2011 was an exciting year for us as we move offices to vibey Longstreet to accommodate our growing team of digital mavericks, who’re now managing £15 million of adspend across our 50 clients globally.

We start work with Ladbrokes in the UK and soon consolidate our experience in the online gambling sector, prompting the formation of our specialist gambling vertical.

2012

With more client wins – primarily in the gaming sector – we find ourselves stretched for space…again!

The team, now pushing 30 employees, migrates to shiny new offices in Observatory (or Obs for the locals).

2013

We go full service…

Well almost.TMI open up our SEO, Social and Content division, we can now support our clients with expert knowledge on their non-PPC needs as well.
